Kamile's performances are often described as a captivating one-woman show, combining storytelling and theatrics. Currently based in Vancouver, she entertains audiences in intimate venues with her original music and comedic stories. Often compared to Bette Midler for her comedic cabaret style, Ani Difranco for her empowered and straightforward approach, and Carole King for her soulful voice and piano skills, Kamile's talent encompasses multiple dimensions. Kamile's musical journey began with classical piano lessons at the age of eight, where she discovered the spiritual connection her soul longed for, growing up in an atheist family. She continued her studies in jazz piano, guitar, and singing throughout her adult life. Kamile has also studied acting and clowning, earning a BA in Liberal Arts focused on experimental theatre from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. After college, Kamile moved to New York where she performed with an experimental theatre group. Later, she moved back to BC where she completed the two year acting program at SFU. She went on to study several years with master clown teacher, David McMurray Smith and acclaimed vocal improviser Rhiannon. She studied jazz piano for several years at The Vancouver Community College as well as privately with the late great Bob Murphy. She has performed in live music venues in Vancouver, India and California, accompanying herself on the piano as well as performing spontaneous vocal improvisations and sharing her personal, often funny stories. She currently performs on a small nine pound keyboard that includes beats and all the midi sounds, so that she can function like a one woman band. She also performs with co-writer, producer, and lifetime guitarist Andrew Butler aka "Shimmer.". With Shimmer they perform a repertoire of classic soft rock pop hits and Kamile Kapel originals, accompanied by guitar, keyboard, tracks, and harmonies that "shimmer". Kamile earned a diploma in Documentary Filmmaking and premiered her short film "Pretty Shy City" at The Women in Film Festival. She currently uses her filmmaking skills to create original music videos for her songs. In 2003, she released her first fully produced album "Kiss the Ground," produced by world musician Joseph "Pepe" Danza. The album features six songs inspired by her travels in India and Northern California, including five Rumi poems adapted into songs. She has recently released her EP, "Vortex" on all streaming platforms along with a string of singles recorded in her home studio with producer and guitarist, Andrew Butler. Kamile Kapel is available for solo shows or as a duo with Shimmer.
